What is The Connection All About?

The USASF Connection is the path for involvement for club owners and coaches. The Connection provides opportunities to collaborate, contribute, share resources and mentor USASF members, all in an effort to promote the longevity and viability of All Star.

The Connection is the path for involvement for club owners and coaches of the USASF. The Connection provides opportunities to collaborate, contribute, share resources and mentor USASF members, all in an effort to promote the longevity and viability of All Star. Through participation in programs offered at the USASF National Meeting and the facilitation of conversations, along with owner and coach input, The Connection inspires and influences owner and coach excellence.

Connection Leaders are selected based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, their education, experience, and success as an All Star business. The level of commitment for Connection Leaders varies based on level of contribution. However, most Connection Leaders contribute between 20-40 hours per year. 

The selection of new Connection Leaders will be made by The Connection Advisory Board. Selections will be made based on need, demographic and regional balance, members, education and business success, and level of expertise. Applicant criteria:

  • USASF eligible owner or coach member in good standing
  • Involvement in All Star Cheer and/or Dance for a minimum of 10 years 
  • The willingness to voluntarily serve as a Connection Leader for a 2-year term 
  • The ability to commit to a seasonally varied schedule (20-40 hours)
  • Contribution of creative content and the ability to attend conference calls (potentially serving as a facilitator for some webinars)
  • Contribute/and or attend the USASF National Meeting and/or other meetings as needed by USASF

What is the Regional Advisory Board?

The Regional Advisory Board supports the initiatives of the National Advisory Board and will regionally convey new ideas to the National Advisory Board for consideration.

ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION DETAILS

All USASF Member Eligible Owners and Coaches are eligible to serve.

Membership

Members apply annually for up to 25 owner/coach representatives per region in addition to regionally-based Event Producers and Affiliate Company Members or their regional representatives.

Term

One year. (May be renewed annually based on interest and active participation)

Commitment

Attendance at VIRTUAL Regional Advisory Board meetings held online via Zoom (video conference). Meeting dates and times TBD [will be scheduled between June 1-7]. Candidates must be available for virtual meetings during regular business hours, Monday – Friday.

Specific Regional Advisory Board Directives

  • Represent the best interest of All Star programs in each region
  • Work collectively and discuss current issues affecting the All Star community
  • Explore solutions that would be widely accepted and in the best interest of their region, and the All Star community as a whole
  • Prepare proposals to be taken to the National Advisory Board (NAB)
  • Promote and implement the initiatives of the NAB

Appointment/Election Process

  • Interested candidates apply online each spring
  • Consideration will be given to program size, geographic location, competitive level, and overall experience to ensure a balanced representation in each region from all types of programs and levels of experience
  • In the event that there are more candidates than seats available for a particular demographic category, a regional election will occur
  • Applicants will be notified in May of their application status
